About HopCat - Knapp's Corner

We open Saturday, Sept. 8th at 11 a.m. at 2183 East Beltline Ave. NE, in Celebration Village in Grand Rapids. HopCat – Knapp’s Corner is the second location in Grand Rapids, seventh in Michigan and 17th HopCat overall. It’s the third new HopCat to open in 2018, following Port St. Lucie (FL) in March and St. Louis in July.

To celebrate, we’re holding the biggest-ever tap takeover of all Grand Rapids-area craft beers, as a tribute to Beer City USA and the growth of craft beer culture in our city. We’ll be pouring 80 local beers in all, from local favorites and newcomers alike. You can view the full tap list at https://hopcat.com/beer-city-takeover.

Old favorites, new ideas

The Knapp’s Corner menu features all the HopCat staples, such as Killer Mac & Cheese, stuffed burgers and, of course, Crack Fries. However, a few items will set it apart from the original downtown location, such as Detroit-style pizza and weekend brunch served until 3 p.m. every Saturday and Sunday.

So much beer

After opening weekend, we’ll keep a Local 30 list of all Michigan beers on draft, while the other 50 taps will feature a rotating selection of our favorite beers from around the world, plus rarities and exclusives curated by an on-site beer expert.

HopCat – Knapp’s Corner will seat 250 people inside its fully renovated, 6,150 square-foot dining area, plus an additional 70 in an outdoor seating area. The restaurant features an eye-popping bottle-cap mural created by Kyle DeGroff.

Carrying on the good name

The original HopCat opened in January 2008 in the Arena District of downtown Grand Rapids. Since then, it’s earned accolades from publications such as Draft Magazine, Beer Advocate Magazine, RateBeer.com and CraftBeer.com, which regularly rank it among the best beer bars in the world.

HopCat is owned by BarFly Ventures, which also operates three other restaurant/bar concepts in Grand Rapids: Stella’s Lounge, a whiskey and retro arcade bar; Grand Rapids Brewing Company; and The Waldron Public House event space.
